WHAT IS PAINTBALL?
Definition
A game in which players on one team tries to eliminate the opposing team by marking them with a water-soluble dye shot in capsules from air guns (makers).
History of Paintball
The first paintballs were created in the 1970’s by Charles Nelson of the Nelson Paint Company of MI, Inc. in Kingsford, MI for use by foresters in marking trees from a distance, and also for use by cattlemen to mark cows. The earliest versions of paintballs were made from wax, but they were not sufficiently durable, and soon soft gel encapsulation was identified as the best method of containing the paint in a projectile that would survive being rapidly accelerated when fired, yet break on the intended target.
Scenario
A type of paintball game that adds a specific theme or story to the paintball game. Themes vary widely from the historic battles, movies, video games and more.
Speedball Speedball is one of the two distinct game variants in the sport of paintball. It is a general term for a game in which the playing field is composed of bunkers, of the same location and number on each side of the field, that provide an equal playing field for each team competing. It was created in this way to give a better format for competitive paintball, both in playing and viewing the games. Speedball is sometime referred to as X-Ball.
